Apologies if it's been done to death, had a quick search and couldn't find my answers and tied for time...

I've been mostly jobbing and doing industrial work for the last 4-5 months and now pricing for large out house extension. Scottish Power running new supply to it as i speak, and the drawings have just landed on my lap for a price to go in by the end of the week.
My question...with the new amendments, what is peoples preferred options for types and manufacturers of fuse boards built of non combustible material? I'd like to stay away from metal if i can (mentioned using these to customer and if he doesn't have to, he doesn't want to), what are everyone's preferred options?

I seen some by contactum, but never used them so no sure of quality. Usually a wylex user...

Any help appreciated!

have a gander at the BG metal CU. also crabtree and schneider.

Have you shown the customer pictures of metal CU's or does he just not like the thought of them, thinking they are ugly things?

It has been done to death, there is one such thread at the bottom of this page. Just search the forum, you'll find a few. Think you'll be hard pushed to install anything else other than metal, unless you install in non-combustible cupboard.

Thanks guys. He had a really old metal one in his garage (which has been knocked down for this outhouse) which rusted away to an orange mess on the wall. I know, i know its a different enviroment, but this has put him off them. If it's the only way to go now, metal it is. Not a fan of putting it in a non combustible cupboard either as it makes the install bigger and uglier than it needs to be.

Thanks again, found one, added to price for materials.
