Good Morning all
First time posting! how goes it??! haha well i have a question. I am pretty good an tinkering/ turning stuff into other things with the help of google
I am no master of electricity though. I recently found a dryer out on the curb and ripped it apart because I need the motor out of it.
the dryer was a White Knight 767
I got the motor which is a FM-10309A
My project is to create a pottery wheel for my girlfriend however I am in need of how to hook it up.
It has 3 wires black brown and yellow. I can't find any diagrams on this nor can I find much about this motor. It doesn't have an electrical digram on the motor either, it has a 8uf capacitor on it.
Can anybody tell me which is positive and negative??! this would be a great help. I can provide pictures if need be.
I realise the RPMs of the motor is not really suitable for a pottery wheel however I was going to either mechanically gear it down or maybe hook up something like a variac? what are your guys thoughts on this?
Thanks for the help in advance.

Okay, the colours of the motor wiring don't necessarily follow any code, you need to test the motor to establish which winding is which and go from there. You'd be better referring to a wiring diagram for the original dryer.

What you're proposing to do has a lot of problems. Firstly it's a pottery wheel so the entire design needs to take into account that it's a wet environment and lethal voltages. Secondly you need to ensure the entire design, both electrical and mechanical is safe and compliant otherwise if it causes injury or worse you're likely to be in court and get a jail sentence.

This isn't the kinda thing that should be a DIY project so in the interests of safety I'm closing this thread.
