This guy has paid his subscription and is now permitted to go to people's houses and put their lives at risk with a nice NIC or ELECSA or whatever sticker on his van.

They will only do something if you report a misuse of their logo, nothing else matters to them.

Do as I did, stop your membership, carry on with work as normal, and your business is £444 better off each year, for no real loss!

I never had a single enquiry in nearly 4 years from the so-called 'Competent Persons Register', I have never paid to advertise and all of my work comes from word of mouth and internet searches.

Any work that requires BC notification, I ring them up and state I will be starting work, and that I'm not registered with a scam, and most of the time they don't give a t055 and basically say crack on and issue a certificate when work is complete.....right you are!

Beats me why you bother.
Joe Public hasn’t a clue what the scams are, he cares even less what they supposedly do.
Most likely thoughts are you will cost more as you advertise that you’re in a scam. It certainly isn’t a guarantee of the standard of work.

Thank god I stuck to industry. We regarded the NIC-EIC and JIB as an expensive joke.

I wouldn't bother, there's far more important issues with them than worrying about who isn't using their logo correctly.

They've all paid their £500 a year to rent the van sticker, so so what if they chop it about a bit?

Ok, so Elecsa were supposed to be coming out today with said Cowboy to go through it all, this was booked a couple of weeks ago.

The customer had booked a day off work for this..

Elecsa rang yesterday and cancelled the appointment with no explanation and not rebooked with the customer...

So having read through this again there’s a glaring omission, legal action. In two months and 210 posts it has been mentioned twice.

You all knew at the outset ELECSA (or any scheme for that matter) would just fudge the issue. The only way to get action out of them is with the possibility of their names being dragged through the courts. That is the time to get the media involved.

Programs like rogue traders won’t help as the first thing they will do is call their tame NIC-EIC expert. Certsure LLP who run the NIC-EIC and ELECSA aren’t going to be unbiased.

UKS, it’s time to stop tilting at windmills and tell the customer to involve the solicitors. Take the matter out of the hands of those whose only interest is to line their pockets.
