hi guys, got a creda elec oven and the timer has gone onto auto mode, cant set the time or change to manual because the buttons are worn anmd wont work.

if i cut swith live in off the timer and cut switch live out off the timer and join together will this by pass the timer? thanks in advance
 
cheers specialist, ive had a couple of white goods enginners offer to do this for £50 as an alternative to buying a new timer at £120, its a old oven and dont use the timer so dnt mind it been out of use, plus i am a plumber so even tho im no sparky i know how switches work so thought id save me sen £50
