Hey
Today I passed my 17th edition with the hope to start up my own business and after reading into part p got myself very confused. If I pay for a part p training courses would I still need to pay the £500 to niccela or other part p providers?

Connor,

I mean no offence but I get the impression that you have little/no electrical experience. Just doing a 17th edition course doesn't give you anywhere near enough knowledge to go self-employed.

To answer your question, yes you do need to join a scheme at the annual cost + the cost per job. There is no such thing as a Part P qualification.

I recommend you locate the free download of Part P to the building regs and print it and read it.

Then contact the CPS's and ask them to send you a welcome pack

Then draw up a list with costs for all your overheads to start up and run for 1 year (this will be a minimum of £6K plus a vehicle)

And peruse the Business section in this forum.......

All domestic work is covered by Part P (apparently).
Only some has to be notified, such as replacing fuse boxes, new circuits or any work within bath/shower room zones.
You don't have to be a member of a scheme to conduct notifiable work, but it may work out cheaper and easier, if you are.
