£1k for 2 years sounds like a lot of money and I'm guessing you'd be putting all your advertising/marketing eggs in one basket. I'd be asking myself questions like would it be likely to generate work that's a good fit with your business? How much turnover would you need from that advertising to make it worthwhile and are you likely to get it?

My general rule with advertising is keep it very focused. There's nothing worse than the shotgun approach and getting lots of leads from the wrong kinds of customers.
 
Word of mouth is your best advertising ;)
A brooms your best tool ..

Local magazines seemed to be a good source of advertising; not sure on the pricing etc but seemed to have worked well for my boss lol
