Guys, was there a "typical" csa for tails and main earth in older PME installations, say 60amp cut-out? Regards. PS I know that this is the DNO's responsibility, but I want to get a flavour of what was the norm.

Glennspark, who stuck the thistle up your arse? A genuine question looking for helpful answers. Tony, not sure I understand your question, and sorry don't have pictures. I know the supply that led me to post my question is definitely PME and as Boydy suggested,it looks like 16mm/10mm. Just checking if this was the norm for early PME domestic supplies

polo, don't forget that pme earthing was installed to existing installations which would have tails that were fitted long before, and could therefore be 16/10, 10/6 etc. ( or, usually, the imperial equivalent of these ).

Thanks Tel. I'm really trying to get my head around when it may be necessary to follow up concerns with the DNO re possible undersizing. I know there's lots of other things to be concerned about (when doing EICRs), but the area I've been working in recently (properties constructed late 60's, early 70's), I'm seeing an incredible variation of csa for tails and main earths all on PME supplies. Presently I'm noting as "requiring further investigation" as I don't get the time to do anything else! Or, should I just "ignore"????

if the DNO fuse is > 80A then put it down as a code C3 as long as the tails don't show signs of heat damage.
