Back home from Aberdeen.

Nice little job. Parents of my daughters friend have bought a flat up there for them to move into next year... both at uni.
Up on the top floor of a 3 storey block of flats.... and had to park the van round the corner as the road is closed right outside. Took an hour just to get all my tools and materials up.

Job was a CU upgrade to all RCBO board, and new linked smoke and heat detectors.
Everything was fine for an older property.... High earth loop readings on one socket which turned out to be a loose terminal screw.

Ended up having to run a new circuit to supply the boiler.
When I took out the one old smoke detector, it had been powered from the nearest ceiling rose. After I did that, the boiler didn't work. The boiler was also supplied from this cable... just connected in the attic and taped over.
The fuse which I thought was the boiler, was actually for an old immersion switch. The cable was still there and powered, but left in connector behind a blank plate in the kitchen.

The electric shower must never have given the previous owners any problems. It was supplied from a separate MEM single fuseboard… and the fuse had been replaced with the push in black circuit breaker with white button which pops out when it trips....
Well, the cover had been screwed back over the MCB, so the white button could never pop back out!

I'll advise they increase the number the sockets in the property. 2 singles in each of the 2 bedrooms and maybe 4 in the living room
Only the kitchen had extra doubles put in.... but these are on a different circuit to the original single sockets in the same room.
I've left a note and a diagram with the board.

Sorry, but no photos of my admittedly tidy consumer unit.

What??
TWO singles in the bedrooms??
LUXURY!

That’s useful to know, @Lucien Nunes
You wouldn’t want it for your collection, would you?
