Could anyone enlighten me on wether or not an RSJ needs to be bonded?
At a job where a wall has been removed now an RSJ. It's sat on the ground and the floor boards start about 2 ft above that. It'll be completely boxed in with Mdf leaving no metal exposed, (apart from above the recess ceiling). Was told various different opinions but could do with a bit more clarity.. Cheers

boxed in, it can't be touched. may not even be extraneous. forget it , IMHO.

That was my original thoughts. But had another spark tell me different. Does it matter that its exposed above the recessed ceiling panels?

what you do then is IR test from the RSJ to the MET with CU and any bonding conductors dissed.. if it reads >22k ohms, then forget it.

I didn't know I needed bonding.............................

Sorry reread it..... RSJ not RWJ......

As above if you've (or are going to) boxed it in then I wouldn't worry, if not test it.

If there is a path there then you have the wonderfull job of trying to attach a lug
