Got a friend who's cooker hood has packed up......GU10 lamps in it and it's clear one has gone with the usual explosion and taken out the plug fuse, which I suspect is located behind the chimney section.....(took out the 32a ring MCB as well-(bloody GU10's!)
Problem is there is coving -obviously put up after the fan- which is obscuring the top section securing screws. I know the top section is supposed to slide down the bottom section but this isnt going to happen without cutting a section of coving away.
Question is....is it possible on these to slide the bottom section up?.....I've tried but cant seem to move it at all and dont want to damage anything.....(highly decorated newish kitchen etc.)

All of the cooker hoods i've fitted the extractor part is separate from the chimney part. The bottom of the chimney just clips/slots onto the top of the extractor. Looking from above the chimney part is a squared off "U" shape. Where the chimney part meets the extractor if you carefully prise the "U" apart it should unclip from the extractor. Hope this is of help. Steve.

Ta all,
After much huffing and puffing we decided the coving had to come off,and so it proved....now need to make it get-at-able with the coving back up, as no doubt those pesky GU10's will blow the fuse again and she wont go for LED lamps.
