Evening all,
Not too good at being brief but I'll try my best.
CU with 4 ways. One for ring final, one for cooker, one for immersion (which no longer exists so this is now a radial and incorporates the boiler) and one for lights (both upstairs and down).
Spur from the lighting circuit 5a breaker in 1.5mm for about a foot then connected with terminal block to 6mm cable feeding a single socket. This obviously needs to be changed.
Spur from ring final 30a breaker in 2.5mm cable feeding three sockets and a further light under the stairs, not connected via a fused spur.
Spur from 40a breaker in 2.5mm cable feeding 6 sockets in the conservatory.
Truly bizarre.
Question is, how many spurs can you have off a single MCB? I'm thinking it wuold be much better to change the cable feeding the single socket to 2.5mm and moving to the 30a MCB and then taking the current spur connected to the 30a MCB from this single socket. There would be a 13a fused connection between breaker and the first socket on the run.
For the conservatory spur (well, radia really!) I was thinking of also adding this to the ring final MCB, again with a FCU between MCB and the first socket.
How does this sound as a temporary until the CU can be changed? Are you allowed two spurs from one MCB? It's the safest option I can think of for now.
The entire installation is protected by a 30ma RCD between meter and CU.
