hi does anybody know what trip you need for a stairlift and also does it run off the 2.5 ring.

Normally i wire them direct from the mains in 2.5 T&E to a RCD fused spur located near to controls at the top of the stairs. As wiring from the ring i don't see a problem but if I'm not mistaken the manufactures instruction require the lift to be separate. You better check.
 
Hi,
All of the stairlifts that I have done are battery powered and the spur is only used for charging the batts. The installers always ask us to change the fuse to a 3A.
