Supply Relocation.

Morning chaps.

With this ongoing shop refurb, i have to get 2 incoming supplies relocated from the shop entrance to the 2 flats above the shop.

Now, do i need to bring the installation in the flats up to current regs?

At the moment they are fed via 16mm t&e via 80 BS88 fuse in the shop by the current location of the meters.

Flats have old wylex rewireables and a distinct lack of main bonding, which will of course, be sorted anyway.

Opinions welcome.

When you say that the flats have old wylex re-wireables and a lack of bonding which will be sorted anyway, then are you not bringing the flats upto standard already??

Sorry, didnt do that very well

I am only planning on installing main bonding as there isnt any at all at the mo.

Just didnt fancy touching the existing CU's as well, when the meters are put next to them.

Problem is, the supply at present is TNS and im sure they will PME it when they move it.

Therefore, the supply characteristics have changed and this would then have an effect on the rest of the install.

Hey mate.

It's a tough one to call.

One option could be to do what ever is required with moving of supplies and meters etc, taking great care to describe exactly what you have done in the extent covered box - installation of new supply and main bonding coductors etc.

You could then advise your client of any obvious non compliances and offer a periodic inspection????

A defined cost for remedials can then be given and the ball would then be in his court as to wether or not to proceed.

Also am I right in thinking the sub-mains will be removed then as the DNO are providing new supplies to each flat?? If so they may have a word or two to say on energising the supply to your flats if they dont comply with the current edition of ol'red.

I hope this in some way assists you rather than making it eeven more indecisive.

At the end of the day, i am going to be governed a bit by what the DNO say.
