Just wondering what Electricians thoughts are on the many evolving qualifications, training and tickets that you must have for the multitude of industries out there?
I am a bit split on it but leaning to my more cynical side of it:
It seems there are constant "upgrades" and new qualifications that, not only, electricians "must" have, but other tradesmen too.
From an evolution side I think yeah I can understand that creating "better" tradesman is the way forward. Also no doubt it does help ensure, though not guarantee, the electricians are competent in the job they are supposed to do... but sometimes it seems like trades are constantly trying to catch up to these new qualifications and sometimes means a lack of workforce- for example labouring guys can't get on certain sites without blue CSCS card instead of green; even though they have good references that can confirm they have done the job. Sometimes workers can't afford to put themselves through courses, and if they are out of work it makes it even harder.
from my cynical side I think some of these schemes that run these need these constant upgrades to operate as a profitable business- as some have said it does seems like a money making scheme... keep jumping through hoops and give me your money while at it.
