Three Phase DB

Best way to connect metal trunking to side of three phase DBs?

Currently install male and female bushes and lockrings to hold them together but would like to be able to have one slot but seems like it could be quite a bit more work as would need to slot the trunking, DB and paxolin?

Slots, you can get more cables in the DB, its a bit more work but its worth it

A lot depends on how you do it and what tools you have, if you drill a series of overlapping holes with a holesaw then use a grinder to smooth the edges to form the slot
A lot easier these days than when I first did it back in the 70's when it was done with a hacksaw

Normally overlapping slots of the size you require with a piece of Paxolin in between that provides a gap between the the two for the covers to go back and also smaller slot to provide protection for the cables.

Paxolin is fairly expensive though not sure if there are any suitable alternatives that is cheaper.

Do you mean butting upto the side of the DB forming a 'T' (on its side) or vertically alongside the DB?

Butting up, running vertically either side and horizontally along the bottom

Just used plywood instead of Paxolin as a spacer in the old days. Many still do.

Make sure the hole in the spacer is the size you need, and cut the holes in the metal slightly bigger.. the spacer acts as a grommet.


Slotted for me. Two holes with a holesaw, then jigsaw or mini grinder to cut the straight bits between.
