A couple of things customers/5WWs think are already standard equipment:
The 'fault code reader' - you simply rock up at the customer's house, plug in this gadget which looks like a MFT and it tells you what the fault is and how to fix it.
Then there's the 'cable mole' - load a roll of T&E onto a cable jack, clip this 'mole' onto the end, drill a hole in the back of the accessory, and the 'cable mole' burrows back to the CU with the cable in tow, via safe zones.

How about a weathering slate come DC isolator so the DC side can be isolated at point of entry, whilst also enabling the cables to pass through the roof (sleeved) and providing protection against water ingress. Would have to be fitted beside the array rather than under a panel obviously. Shouldn't be too hard to stick a DC isolator to a bit of lead though.

As an ex auotmotive R&D engineer who spent 20 years coming up with ideas and "thinking outside the box", I just can't break the habit and have a box full of ideas. But if you think I'm just gonna give them away for free on a forum....well, jog on.

I do have a genuine one and am trying to get hold of the right contact at Bosch in their product design/R&D department to see if they would consider implementing it.
At this stage I will not say anything about it as I do not want anyone else thieving the idea!

if you are thinking of something, you need to sort your patents out before you speak to anyone, even your own familly, otherwise it may be deemed to be in the public arena and as such not patentable

From bitter personal experience, patent your idea first before breathing a word of it to a manufacturer, otherwise you risk seeing the good idea put in to production and their legal department disputing your 'ownership' of the design and your right to royalties.

You do what you have to do to secure your patent/idea - this will save us any future legal battles. What I can offer? We can build prototype for you, or few prototypes, try them out, and then...if it work out will invest in production line and try to put it on the market. Your idea, our manufacturing. Like above. That is what I am lookin for. I can not promise that it will work out, or that we gonna make few milions - we might waste our time and loose money and time. But if idea will be good - then sky is the limit. I was mostly thinking about something related to pv installation, but any other ideas are more then welcome.
