My pal set this up for me, and it is the only use for the big shims in the bumper pack i bought 10 years ago...
well, ok, I have used some, but these are being replaced very soon by a custom wire mesh tray system to keep the air flowing

no wonder you never did well as a pirate. that woiuld never do more than 5 knots. the hull is a lump, and the sail is all to cock.
 
5 knots?

Let me tell you, I can do 15 knots downwind with my twin foresails goose-winged and my spinnaker up...

and my donkey engine at full revs!
