Hello, I am looking for a little help for a solution for a client who wants to close and open security roller shutters remotely.

The brief is: serviced office with 6 electric roller window shutters fitted, they need to close window shutters after the building is empty and open in the morning.

At present, someone has to attend the building each night and morning to open/close the shutters which are wired in series and are controlled by a make and brake switch in the reception.

I was thinking that the windows could be viewed by eternal CCTV cameras with phone APP to ensure these are closed before lowering to avoid damage to the windows. Then I was thinking about a GSM remote switch.

The issue is that the roller shutter limits are not level so these do not close all at the same rate, some close earlier than others. How do I achieve the power cycle without it been a constant feed on the remote switch?

Does anybody have any ideas or experience of this? Simple problem for someone, I have gone mind blank! Any advice or recommendations of KIT to use?

When I have done similar things, I have asked the intruder alarm people to provide me with a volt free contact for set/unset.
Use it to drive shutters down when set and open when unset.

Wired in series? Are you sure?

It doesn’t matter that they all close or open at different speeds. There will be limit switches to stop the motors when fully closed/ open.

I think someone will need to close any open windows first, so will be in the building and can close shutters using the existing method.
The likelihood of all the windows being shut is minimal.
Unless you motorise all the windows as well, and they shut first before the shutters come down.

You could look at the door manufacturers website and see if they provide a simple solution for this before experimenting.
