What are you doing/done today ? not a direct poll but I thought that it would be interesting to see a snapshot of a day in the life of a E.F. member did it go to plan what problems did you overcome.

I've come of age in my training and diagnosed and remedied a borrowed neutral to get a RCBO board Spic and span. It was a tough route but I conquered it - amazing that as your training and experience increases things don't phase you. Chuffed with that.

Spent most of yesterday in the sun sorting my rear brakes. Drum decided to go on my far side. Luckily on a side street because it was an instant stop but one of the busiest junctions in keighley on a Friday evening

Car stops again so that's a good sign
£60 for a low loader from a passerbys family member, £100 for parts and an afternoons work.

It was making a weird noise at the back whilst driving. Like something was flapping or caught in the wheel(turned out to be my (non existent) pads for my drum). Day after it catastrophically failed; wheel off gave it a spin, metal scraping... shoes completely fell apart.

I thought the drum was self contained and lasted yeeeaars. I was wrong. Lesson learnt

Hey buddy: Glad you got it sorted, weekend hasn't been too bad thanks buddy. My missus & kids wanted to go looking around Antique shops, so we had a day out today doing that.
Didn't buy anything but took them for a picnic lunch, so they were landed

Today I was mostly fixing a badly installed consumer unit which prevented the home owner from using their sauna, shower and out house... because... and you'll like this, all three were incompatible with the new board.

Turns out, the chap who installed the consumer unit ran out of space on the RCD protected neutral bar and just ran over into one that was connected to the main switch. Instant imbalance.

One new RCD and a couple of split load cable kits (he'd also butchered all the cables to make it work) and all the incompatible kit is working again... shock, horror... apart from the sauna which the customer had me disconnect. And as a bonus, the customer got some bonus advice on how to rectify the fault with his washing machine

That and finishing off (labelling and final earth bond) the kitchen installation I was working on.

Picking up some more jobs from both clients to boot. Nice to know I'm doing something right

So all in all, a dam good day and tomorrow I'm off to quote for some renovations and changes

Why thank you kind Sir.

I was supposed to be doing an EICR, but the customer pulled out earlier in the week stating I was going to cost too much... that after trying all day to get me to guarantee a pass.

And I found out another customer also deemed me too expensive and opted for an £80 EICR on one of her rental properties.

So it's not all roses, but you win some and you lose some... I'm winning more than I'm losing so business is moving in the right direction

Talking of vino.. I'm just supping Brewgooder clean water lager, brewed by Brewdog for a clean water charity. And in a moment I shall be venturing downstairs to grab a bottle of Brains SA as @Specialist suggested it's nice tipple

if you like the SA, try these. your local spar or bargain booze should have.

Theakson's Old Peculier, Marston's Old Empire, Moreton's Speckled Hen, and loads more usually available @ 3 for a fiver.

Tip: do not cool to much in fridge, should be drunk @ 10 -12 deg.

What about Newcastle Brown ? Lovely chilled & much better straight from the bottle, glasses are for wimps

Glad you liked it SC, they do a Dark mild as well. Not bad chilled, especially after a day on the tools.
Not that I'd know anything about popping in for a pint on the way home from work of course, but my grandad told of things like that happening in years gone by.

Flipping heck, I must have been drunk to have missed these recent posts. On Saturday, we went to the local carnival, to enter my lads doggie in the doggie show.

Whilst there, I found the beer tent, and as it was rather hot, I thought I might quaff a pint while we waited. Unfortunately, there was a wait 'cos of a large queue in front, with idiots ordering diet cokes

When I got me pint, it was very enjoyable, and the doggie won a 2nd & two 3rds. Would of had a 1st, but we forgot to clip her nails.
