What Drill Bit to go for?

I've got a bit off drilling to do in 3mm sheet metal at 20mm to fit conduit bushes. At the moment I'm using a 20mm hole cutter and its not doing a bad job of it but I'm sure theres something out there to do it better but without spending a fortune. Options are:-

Stick with the hole cutter £8
Go with a step down drill bit £19
Or a blacksmith drill bit £5

It's more than less drilling a hole in a metal c/u, what do/have you used and what lasts, makes a good hole (oh matron) and is cost effective?

Ps, can't believe I've just asked a question on the forum about drilling holes! Next I'll be asking about exporting earth to a shed .

By the way DurhamSparks, I don't need any advice from you about hole cutters lol

PMSL mate. £1625.25 exc vat to do a hole! I could have 3 weeks in Amsterdam for that much to do a.............. (lets not get band Paul)

Use cutting compound mate, and it will prolong the life of your holesaw. I also predrill the pilot holes.

you need a nice clean smooth hole on panels paul..

when drilling 20mmm holes in plastic, a hole saw is useless. 10 seconds to cut the hole and 10 minutes to get the crap out of the hole saw. cone cutter every time. for steel, it's just personal choice. could recommend the ex-wife. just by looking at it she could burn a 20mm hole in 3 seconds.

For 3mm, assume its ali? I would drill to 13 with standard bit, then finish with step cutterto 20mm.

Forget a blacksmiths drill, it will snatch like the clappers with a hand held drill.

i like cone cutters,but you really need to concentrate on the hole,nowt worse that a hole thats to big for you..

After I've had a go with this 'tool' I'll 'come' back and tell you all how easy it is to 'penetrate' a 20mm hole into something cold, hard, differcult and unforgiving and I'm not talking abouttelextrix ex wife .

Told me that he's going to use it on the H&S bit on his next assessment? Doubt it, it contains 3 plasters, 1 bandage and a safety pin. Unfortunately the safety pin dose not come with instructions so he's fooked

what do you mean nothing? we have rolls of insulating tape and pieces of paper cracking plasters they have been for me in the past. also snips are great for pulling splinters

No Phil he didn't have any tape at all if you remember that thread, that's why I got him the smallest first aid kit I could find. His apprentice phsl when I gave it to him.
