Has anyone joined NICEIC as domestic installer with the 2357?

The reason I’m asking is on the required qualifications under the 18th and 2391 it says that the 2357 includes the requirements for said qualifications.

I’m just about to finish my 2357 and will be taking my 18th exam any way. Would like to join the niceic before having to take the 2391-52.

I will ring them up and have a discussion with them eventually however would be nice to see if anyone has done this.

Kind regards

Sam

I think that you will need your 2391

I think that you will need your 2391

Not necessarily

EAS Specification

An ECS Registered Electrician Gold Card with the occupation of Installation Electrician, which will show the relevant edition of BS 7671, may be sufficient to demonstrate the qualification requirements in Tables A4.7 to A4.10.

A4.10

TABLE A4.10 INITIAL VERIFICATION

Current Qualifications - Electrotechnical Work in Dwellings only

The problem is the wording may be sufficient

When I applied to NICEIC they insisted 2391 was required for Domestic Napit said it wasn't required.

I think it depends on if the AM2 version that you have done includes any Initial Verification and Testing

You don't have to have a Gold Card to join the Napit Domestic Scheme but if you met all of the requirements that would enable you to get a Gold Card then you would be accepted is what Napit told me.

I thought domestic schemes were going? We don’t have DIs in Scotland

Are you getting confused with the course? I believe those have been phased out.

That said I am not a member of NICEIC so am not up to date with what they are doing. They are still offering the Domestic Installer Scheme on their website and can find no info that it is being phased out.

There was a Reddit post on this but it looks like they were confused with the courses being phased out.

I believe this was a clamp down on the 7 day wonder sparks!

Those doing the Domestic Installer course and then joining a CPS.

Just bumping this to see if anyone else can shed some light or has joined NIC with just 2357 + 18th.

If you have not done an AM2 or not been a QS in the last 2 years they won't accept you I have been told.

Cheers for the reply 👍

AM2 is part of the 2357 (unit 399 I think) which I’ve done. I doesn’t look like you have to be a QS previously. You need to have the required qualifications: 2357, 18th & 2391.

I’ll give them a phone call soon and find out anyway.
