A friend of a friend called me up last thing today, he'd brought new switches for his bedrooms and attempted to connect them up him self !!!.. He made me laugh when he rang, he was worrying like it was the end of the world. Ha ha.. He didnt know what he was buying as he'd brought intermediates for 1 way lighting etc.. and he'd basicly guessed at what core goes where, I had 10 mins to spare so poped round on my way home and sorted for him..

The only thing that baffled me was i was measuring 24v on my tester at the feed in at the switch, Is there an obvious reason why i would be getting this oppsed to the 230v supply.. I was in and out in minutes and just connected the switched he had brought to replace.. Lights all working fine, just confussed of why i got 24v without looking further into it. No time

hi there
we get that it can be useful sometimes when you are testing.
leakage detection of the switch testers are very sensitive
Mcb leakage there is no such thing as perfect insulation resistance there will always be some leakage.

cheers
