Lights over a sink - commercial bar

I'm not trade. Q about light fittings and water. Our village hall has a bar, with a sink for glass washing. We want to put a light above the sink, and our electrician will do this together with some other work, and he asked us to choose a light fitting. Now being a committee, something might...

Wall switching method for 12v adapter powered devices?

Thanks for clarifying pc1966, I think I misread which bit being " spurred off" but I get it now. Thanks guys. This is very useful. Some of the committee members need extra reassurance before asking for something they consider "unusual".

Wall switching method for 12v adapter powered devices?

I see how that works now, thank you, that's great. Wouldn't the wall switch then switch off the entire ring though?

Wall switching method for 12v adapter powered devices?

That's very useful to know. Thanks. Spot on re the cooling. So if we go for 3x double sockets as a dedicated, give us 6x sockets. In terms of cable, is it going to need to cope with a potential of 6x13 = 78A? In practice I doubt it'll be any more than 2A, but I know it doesn't work that way...

Wall switching method for 12v adapter powered devices?

I'm not a pro, just looking at strategy for a village hall install. In the bar area, there are a number of devices which need to be switched on in one go. Some LED lights, a video monitor, wifi externder, other low power stuff. They are the type with the plug in 13A to low volt wall adapters...

    UPS and earth?

This was one of the grey areas I was thinking about. If say, a PC technician is working on the PC and has attached an anti-static lead from the PC case to a nearby radiator, does the floating in respect to earth become a different problem?

    UPS and earth?

Turns out, power supply in this particular PC has been mounted with sound dampening. I didn't spot it before as it's pretty wedged into a desk cabinet. I've added a Fly-lead. Might even cure speaker buzz too. I still wonder though about any addition of a separate earth. If supply drops, the...

    UPS and earth?

UK. Domestic computer setup with uninterruptible power supply - APC brand devices BK650EI and BK350EI. The manufacturer offers almost no information on earth and I presume that protected appliances are on their own independent circuit. Modest testing (ordinary multimeter) suggests there is no...

Dead socket - finding the cabling

The landing is another challenge. It's most likely place for boxes etc. the floor boards have been fitted with hardboard sheets and grippers for carpet. Except at some point the alarm installer ran cables over the hardboard. That's going to be fun.

Dead socket - finding the cabling

Thanks Guys. Live and neutral are missing IIRC. Will have to ask again. Are there cable tracers that can work through floorboards?

Dead socket - finding the cabling

Any tips / tools for finding cable runs? Sockets and outside light stopped working in an extension. Experienced DIYer / renovator, doing some uncovering for my spark. What with social distancing and the fact that old horrible artex (ugh - will be replaced) might have asbestos - A lot of the...
