I'm not trade. Q about light fittings and water.

Our village hall has a bar, with a sink for glass washing. We want to put a light above the sink, and our electrician will do this together with some other work, and he asked us to choose a light fitting. Now being a committee, something might have been lost in translation but the one that took the message said nothing about type of fitting re being near water. Spark is now on holiday.

An adjustable light fitting make/model has been selected. It's interior with no IP rating. Where it's going to be mounted, a tall person could attempt to adjust the light direction with their other hand in the sink. Mounting positions are very limited.
Consumer units have RCD / MCB.

Sorry for the preamble. This is all about having the fittings ready for when he gets back from holiday. Should we be looking for outdoor / bathroom / low voltage type fittings? Or are we over-thinking and interior fittings would be OK?

Interior fitting would be fine, it’s a bar sink, not a bathroom or swimming pool.

I bet there’s sockets nearby that can be touched with wet hands already.

If lights are covered by rcd/RCBO… make sure these are tested frequently.

you say a TALL person can reach it, therefore i am assuming that it is at no risk of being splashed when using the sink under normal circumstances.

if it was say a foot away from the sink then i would suggest something with a much better IP rating but if it is up on the ceiling then i cant see any increased risk and therefore, any indoor light will be fine.
