    Smoke alarms/heat alarms

Hi, I have just read a easier to understand regs page on the internet. It states that if the kitchen is open to the living area i.e. no door then there must be a heat sensor in the kitchen. I think this puts Nest out as they state that their alarm cannot be any closer than 3 metres to a source...

    Smoke alarms/heat alarms

Hi Guys, Thanks for your replies. The Nest smoke alarm is a smoke and Co detector, wireless and wifi linked to your device. They are very good but not sure of the legalities of just having one in the living space. Tried reading the government documents on the subject and felt that life was too...

    Question for domestic sparks

Two weeks ago I went to a house to do a board change. Fed by overhead cables. On my initial checks I noticed that the incoming voltage was 258 volts and Ze was just over the limit. Checked back to the 60/80 amp switch just after the meter and the problem was there as well. Also the lights were...

Possibly just me but i just get really insulted

The only problem that I have with ''older'' apprentices in my experience is that they are very keen to learn, ask lots of questions about marketing and where the best place is to advertise, pricing etc. You then notice in the local paper them advertising in direct competition with you.

If someone asks you to install one of these avoid if you can.

To be honest I think it looks awful, that is my personal opinion of course. Yes and what a nightmare to keep clean still if you can afford to buy it in the first place you can afford to have it cleaned once a week.

I want to be a sparks in Spain

The attached are the installation forms from a Spanish electrician. They are for a rewire, board change and running a new cable from the meter to CU. Two pages versus our endless reams.

    Help! Advice please.

Did the building contractor pay you or the householder. If the building contractor then he is liable as he employed you as a sub contractor and should take responsibility for the works carried out. Also assuming that you have liability insurance pass it on to your insurers, their legal...

    Spanish Practices / Hot tubs?

Whilst on a Spanish theme I was supplying materials to a job in Spain for a local to fit and cert. I said do you want shaver sockets for the bathrooms, oh no we put a socket in bathrooms perfectly accepted. Since then another Spanish electrician has been in and confirmed it is O.K. So much for...
