Hi guys. I've recently moved from NAPIT to NICEIC I've just issued a cert. Now the circuit details are as follows.
Lighting, 6amp RCBO
Ze - 0.18
R1&R2 - 0.64
ZS - 0.82
Now by my understanding the max allowed ZS is 6.14 for the type of RCBO so I'm well within the allowed but on the generated...
Hi guys, I've recently taken the plunge to start out on my own and enjoy the world of being my own boss. I have recently registered with NIC and have my assessment in the next 6 weeks. I want to do my best and make sure I'm very prepared for any unusual (if any) questions I may be asked. I have...
Like no doubt many others, e.mails from the NIC are coming through thick and fast relating to the 3rd ammendment.
All these guys must sit around a table for hours working out what changes can be made to current regs, at cost to us sparks "of course" and even to the point of changing consumer...

Hi everyone,
As the title says does anyone else feel as if the Niceic sheets are not very commercial/industrial friendly? And generally not very user friendly...
Also it seems to me as I work with diferent Sparks on different jobs that they interpret different sections in different ways.

More of a vent than a question. Reading the latest copy of professional electrician magazine earlier and seen an article from elecsa titled "one of the most common questions we get asked on the technical helpline is do i need rcd protection for...".
Now iv always known elect / nic etc standards...

Hello to all you NAPIT members out there. Just thought id make a post with regards to NAPI's Desktop certification software.
Whats everyones opinions on it?
Personally Im unimpressed, I've been using it for a few months now and it just feels cheap and poorly thought out. Which is annoying when...
Is there much pref between, obviously full scope NIC has its prestige but its not worth the cash this year.
The website doesn't have the price for NIC domestic at the moment, but elecsa looks a tad cheaper than napit...
Dear All
Im quoting on changing a fuse board and the earth bonding to the gas is 6mm. TNCS system 100A main fuse at cutout (sealed so not confirmed)
The flat has concrete ceilings and floors and the bonding cable is deep in the structure of the building. No obvious route to run in a 10mm. I rang...
I notice that fully qualified sparks are starting to rebel against being mothered and bled by these organisations .....
Have any of you guys got advice for dealing directly with building control ?
I really cant see why I should pay one of these organisations to go over my work when I'm fully...

Hi all

Had my first Elecsa assessment this morning and have to say that my overnight panicking was totally uncalled for.
I was asked lots of questions most of which I was able to answer without referring to the guide/reference books and asked to do several tests at the CU.
All in all very happy with...
