Hi Folks, have just finished replacing an old fuseboard with a new rcbo jobby. To say there have been a few surprises would be putting it mildly. The property is a late 60's bungalow and has had all the usual mods. Loft conversion, new kitchen etc. First surprise was the 3, 32A fuses with 8...
Hi there,
We have just completed an EICR on a Historic Castle, 1 of the Fuse Boxes was pretty bad so we have issued a Dangerous Installation Notice and removed supply fuses and locked it off etc. Its an old wooden fuse box with double pole fusing etc etc etc.
Anyway, my current problem is that...
Hi,
I have a customer who has installed very heavy steel security door in a metal frame. This door is going nowhere. My concern is that an attack is most likely to be from between the metal frame and the blockwork, by working in a crow bar and then forcing the door frame away from the concrete...
I am going to be installing this lamppost and replying the cable. Only thing is I’m a bit unsure on how to light this old bugger up. I was thinking to send some ho7rn 3 core cable up there and into a bc lamp holder but it doesn’t seem right.
Then I had a look at some images of these lamppost...
I’ve been asked to do a job wiring and fitting out lights and sockets in a single skin shipping container.
How do I fix to the walls?
I don’t want to self tap to the walls and I don’t weld. Any other options?
Existing customer has swimming pool that extends 4/5 feet above ground (sits on a concrete base). It's one of those where you swim against the waves. All well done and was very expensive. Because its outside he has built a timber building over the top of it (looks like a posh workshop) -...

3 of the 6 lights run by the same switch went out at the same time. Tried new bulbs, switching bulbs that worked no go. When the switch is off and I go to insert a new bulb it will flash on momentarily. Are these controlled by some type of ballast? Thanks

Pull switches look real naff, obviously there for local control @ desk.
Any ideas on better control system, problem is the individual control required needed too.
Ok all,
I'm looking at a shower install and need a bit of advice selecting the correct cable for the job.
The customer has a 10.5 KW shower. There are no cable factors to apply, all clipped direct in the loft from the consumer unit, above insulation, to the bathroom.
I was going to use 10mm...
I’m an apprentice and dropped a real clanger. Had spent hours chasing our rock solid walls and moved over to a thin plastered stud wall on the other side of the room. Was drilling a hole through the wall and applied too much pressure and broke out the other side, ruining a shower bathroom tile...

This morning we had a power failure of our shower. When I took the switch off the wall to check for any issues I noticed a section on the load side had "blown" for want of a better word.
I'm assuming its something to do with overheating but not sure - any advice?
Thanks,
Josh
