OK, going to keep this short.
Supply is 150mm 4 core SWA, with NO supplymentary earth ( calcs done by others, )
QUESTION IS. Do you NEED to run an earth ( is it a regulation) from banjo on inside to earthing terminal inside board. Common sense and a simple ohms continuity test (0.01 ohms)...

Hi,
Apologies if I'm breaking a million rules by posting (and registering here) as I'm not an electrician, but I had a question about the safety/age of something electrical.
I have just recently bought a house, and the survey flagged up possible electrical issues. We had a local electrician...

Hi Im considering buying a repossession and was wondering how much it would typically cost to move the main Incomer about a 3 foot. It currently comes out the floor in the kitchen and is about 20 cms off the floor level. Realise i cannot move it myself as it's non-contestable work.
Any thoughts...
Hi guys,
I have just picked up the keys to my new house, the Incomer is exposed under the stairs and looks a mess, I will be doing a gradual rewire as we revamp the house over time but firstly I will be sticking a new CU on.
Now if you look at the pics what would you guys do with this? I want...
Hi just after some help. It's a high rise block new install. Dno are wiring up to the Ryefield board then to the meter. Then there will be an isolator and then run to each flat cu. question is what size cable. I've been told 3 core 25 mm swa but this seems a bit excessive for 100a dp main switch...
Had an interesting one this week, customer assures me he's on TT, DNO days the same but i'm getting 0.13Ohms on the Ze, never seen it that low befor.
There's no 100mA RCD on the supply and it doesn't look as if there's ever been one, so with that reading i'd assumed it was a TN system... so my...
Having a quick discussion in work with regards to sizing the main incomer of a three phase dis board. Can someone please tell me how the correct way to size the main incomer of a three phase board or single phase for that matter
Cheers
Folks
Hi,
went to to look at a job last week where the builder proposes that the new electrical installation will require 135amp three phase.
However the the main incomer to the site only seems to be 100 amp three phase and a 25 mm incomer.
i have calculated that the run from the main incomer to...

Just a bit of advice from you guys.
Seem to be coming across these a lot recently in old houses-cast iron main fuse on the DNO side, prior to the meter. Told customers to approach DNO and get them to replace.
Does anyone know if the DNO's are charging for this service?
The last one I went to...
2 x 25 mm tails and a 16mm earth as the main incomer ! Never saw this before has anyone else? Couldn't find where they when,t too.. Don't they have to be 3 m max? Cheers
We have a main incoming cable coming into a factory unit where I think the size is 300mm 4c. The cable head says 400. Is this the current carrying capacity of the cable or just the model number of the cable head box? I can't get a definitive answer even from Scottish Power!!!
Thanks. Hutch

I realise this question has been asked in all sorts of different ways before but I would like your opinions on the following, I have an oak framed garage with accommodation upstairs, the water comes in via a plastic incomer, once in the property (behind the sink) it then connects to a copper...
I think I read that this unit can be adjusted in case of high grid volts or fit a G59 relay? Client is getting 257-259v and it is tripping. It is a rural location and rather not get DNO involved if it can be sorted on site. Did I read that right?
Thanks
