I recently had and EICR done and received an 'unsatisfactory' report due to not all circuits being RCD protected on the consumer unit. The consumer unit was installed in 2007 and complied with all wiring regulations at the time (image attached). Does it need to be upgraded? I have attached the...
Hi there thank-you for taking the time to read this! I have a 300mA Rcd in a grain shed on a farm now every time I try reset it won’t stay on there are 3 phases that go into the main switch
And it isolates all 3 bar the neutral so when wen everything is turned off mcb rcbo in the board it...
Hopefully some of you more experienced people can assist. One lighting Cct with 12 Downlighters off the same RCD functioned well for 5 years. Cct now trips when power applied, It was after about circa 5 minutes before it tripped. Now it is off without any reset.
What i did do.... I have isolated...
Just sat contemplating life and realised i don't think i've ever seen any RCD protection on the boards we maintain/install at work.
I've seen 300mA protection on some section boards but don't recall ever clocking a 30mA in a 3 phase board.
Am i just not looking properly?
i have a rcd fitted in the trunking in an office but at the db i have a mcb i have tried to do a R1+ R2 test but as my mft uses 200ma it trips the rcd any advice would be greatfull
I had a fault finding job on Thursday, intermittent RCD tripping. 2 actually, there was a 30mA RCD upstream, and a 30mA RCBO protecting the problem socket circuit, and either one could trip.
I had limited time to work on it, but had eliminated everything obvious through testing, and was...
Hi all. Please be patient as I don't know much about electrics!
We had a powercut in the area Tuesday 9th November afternoon - blown fuses in the sub opposite the property caused a 70 property outage. That was resolved Tuesday evening.
The main switch on the RCD flipped once that evening, I...
I'm having a problem with the CU rcd tripping out, I have installed a feed outside to my daughters hot tub using 6mm cable about 14mts in length going to a metal clad dis board and from there via a 32A mcb to a 32A switched socket, insulation is good, no damp, but when I connected up the tub the...
My main incoming rcd is tripping out as soon as any load on any circuit. Have pulled each circuit out of the board live and neutral in turn but failed to isolate it to any specific circuit, is this likely to be the rcd at fault?
Hi all
I need an RCD replaced in my consumer unit... It's type .... Down the line, I'll be getting an EV charger installed with a Matt:e device between the unit and the charger.... Do I need a type b RCD, or can I just replace the type a, with the protection being provided by the Matt:e device...
Went to a tripping RCD job on the way home.
Tracked it to a socket circuit, then to a fused spur feeding SWA.
Found this on the other end. ??

Hello, I'm new to this. Currently a 2nd year adult trainee.
My question is, my parents have just moved into a new property and had an eicr and gas safety cert done.
The eicr flagged up two c2s.
* gas meter not bonded.
* shower consumer unit has a 40amp 30ma rcd with a 50amp mcb.
The...
Hi everyone.
This has been an off and on issue for quite a few years, and seems to return for short periods of a few days or weeks and then goes away for months even a year or more. During the dodgy spells, the RCD trips at pretty random times - it was just after 10pm last night, after we'd all...
Power connection of unknown source (prob socket spur) connected to outdoor light. Can i disconnect the existing light. Connect up RCD plug and then connect a switch to control a new outdoor light like pic
