I want at least 200 Amps at a Building 1000 feet away from my feed. I'll be running Aluminum wire and will only use 120V equipemtn(welder, compressor, etc). I'll be running 240V to the building.

My question is: Which diameter/Gauge wire will I need to accommodate these needs?

Thank you very much

First you will need to install conduit, then at every 200 feet you have to have a pulling point. Most guys set junction boxes above ground. The wire size for aluminum for a 200 amp panel will certainly be very large in size, something you couldn’t buy from Lowe’s or Home Depot. I believe you would have to use 350mcm and 4 inch conduit, PVC preferably

why not use copper. smaller size required? alternatively transform up at supply end to 1kV, then back down at load end. much reduced current.
