would like your advice lads. i was called to friends house to put up a light and upon testing the light for voltage to make sure dead i notice there was 108v through earth between neutral and earth. going between live and earth i get 0v going between earth and neutral i was getting 108v checked connections were all tight in fuse board and switch .didnt have my meggar with me just my multimeter so didnt get to meggar the circuit. it was getting late so didnt get fully investigate but will be back tom. what interests me is a another friend was getting 84v at one of strappers in lighting circuit at a converted steading and he fully tested everything and every thing was fine he ended up connecting strapper to earth and in doing this it didnt trip the breaker so he put it down to inductance being just voltage and no current ,would just like an insight and your views on this matter. thanks lads

Possible reason/s. Don't know how you tested, but n to e. Was a loop neutral at the fitting? If so were they split, did one n to e read 100v? or did they both?
Did you keep n's joined together while testing?

Were all other light points switched off?

Did you try testing with a test lamp? as well as multi meter?
