Just had my NICEIC inspection and said I haven't done the course yet and do I need it.
He said no hurry, sometime this year will do. Worth doing in case one of your customers ask if you have got it.
Now it all seemed a bit vague as if they do not know if we must have it.
What are your feelings?

The NICEIC come up with all these exams etc, but find t hard to justify in my personal opinion, which others may disagree with, especially those who think the NICEIC make the rules.
I agree to a point but there are plenty of other scam operators out there, are they saying we absolutely need it? I presume you don't like the NICEIC?:)

Of course they are, more dosh for them.

Agreed, one big scam.
You don't redo you're electrical training qualifications, be it a cable puller up to degree level and beyond, every few years. You keep abreast of the current state of the industry.
The IET always publish the draft version of major Regs overhauls, freely available for everyone to appraise and familiarise themselves with.

I thought transition has started but ends in July, meaning you have to have moved over to 18th by then.
If you don't do it by then they will lose out on cash, all these changes are nothing but a cash cow for those in control, pay yer dosh learn how to navigate a BS pass an easy exam ( it is easy) and you are 18th qualified, now wait until someone comes up with something to incur the 19th and on and on etc. Think about it £4 or 6 hundred quid for new books and courses exams etc a good scam don't you think?

Pete they are not referring to one of their exams they are referring to him doing the 18th.

I have the 18th edition and a good (ish!) knowledge, possibly! maybe!
I'm with you there, mate....and you'll have a good knowledge without even opening it.
I've had to put things back a bit, with good reason, but all these problems with 18th edition certificate software (NIC Clik) aren't helping. Another reason to wait a while.

All you've to do is show your working towards it...

You could spend the next 5 years "working towards it"...
It's all about interpretation...

"working to it"...
Now, there's another matter...
