Hi,

ive just done the prep day for my AM2 and they are using a gland to terminate the SY braided cable that I haven't used before. I have been practicing using the one that is on you tube etc where you twist the braids like a moustache etc. The one they insist on using is the same as an swa gland apart from the clamping part is rough not smooth. Not wanting to leave anything to chance I want t get one of these
glands and pactice but I can't find this type anywhere. (I can do armoured ok but I'm quite slow so I want every base covered). Can anyone advise of a name, reference or where is best to get one please? I've been digging around neweys and Prysmian but the all look like swa kits.

Thanks

Surely they cannot expect you to terminate a cable with a gland that they have not trained you to use . Is this part of a course?

The one I posted is under £8. They are EMC glands and are similar to the armour glands.

No just the am2 exam. I sat it before but failed the SY cable (and ultimately the whole installation). Just trying to get this gland sorted and hope I'll be ok this time.

If I were you I would ask them for a good look at the gland ,and be up front with them.
You cannot be expected to have used all the gear at your stage.
