I came across a 230v LED GU10 lamp the other day which fits into a standard downlighter, how would this work as it is my understand that LED's require a DC supply, if used on an AC supply they would flicker as the Diode only allows current to flow in one direction?

230V LED lamps come with built-in driver, so the step down is done in the lamp itself.
