Is it possible to have an electrician adjust the thermostat ( Probe like a frypan ) on my 2000w electric BBQ?
When it is cycling on and off the food stops cooking during the off period making for a very slow cook.
I'm happy to have an electrician modify it if that's possible
Cheers Sunter

That doesn't really make sense.

The thermostat will only turn off once it has reached a set temperature. The heating element can't possibly cool down enough to stop the food cooking without it turning back on. Much in the same way an electric oven works.

How long is this "off period"?

Thanks for replying Rob. The off period is the about the same as the on period. I haven't timed it but something like a couple of minutes Cheers Sunter

Hi - if the stat was intended to be adjustable it would’ve had a knob or something put on from the factory and you’d likely have seen it by now. So I’m guessing it’s either underpowered for how it’s used, or busted. So I’m with Ken, time to upgrade :) .

Electric BBQ? Isn’t that just a cooker? Thought it was pushing the BBQ thing a bit when all the outside gas devices came out. What’s wrong with a bit of charcoal? ;) I suspect this BBQ thermostat is just an Aussie invention to give the cook more beer consumption time. Where can I get one:p?
