Discuss AFDD's in a newly licensed HMO in the DIY Electrical Advice area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi everyone. I want to license my home as an HMO because I intend to rent multiple rooms to different tenants. The part of the building concerned is supplied by dedicated circuits IE circuits that do not serve any other part of the building with the exception of corridor and emergency lighting.

I already have a satisfactory EICR covering the entire installation.

Do I need to install AFDD's on everything, only the HMO circuits, or none at all? (I realise they're a good idea, but can't get AFDD for an old Square D loadcentre DB and don't really want the huge cost of replacing it, given that it's been deemed safe as of last year).

I would think the license for an HMO will only stipulate that the property needs a satisfactory EICR with possibly RCD protection to all circuits.

SPDs and AFDDs are only really considered when new work is added
