does anybody know when an apprentice electrician gets a pay rise? I'm not sure whether it is 18 or 19..

cheers

I dont know if there is anything set in stone, mine was supposed to be performance based, however i think they can basically pay you what they want to, i was on £80 a week for 18 month of my apprenticeship, and believe me i worked hard for that £80

There is a national minimum wage for an apprentice under the age of 19. it's something like £90 - £95 a weak for a 40 hour week and then it goes up to the minimum wage for a peron under 21 after 19.

When I served my time the rise was given each year as oldtimer stated. In my case it was:

Year 1 - 40% of an electricians rate
Year 2 - 55% of an electricians rate
Year 3 - 70% of an electricians rate
Year 4 - 85% of an electricians rate

Full sign off was on completion of college and EITB modules.

I had a rise each year. My first year i was on 90 a week. Seconds year i was 175 a week. Third yeah i was on 250 a week. 4th year i was on 400 a week. All of them are before tax has been taken off.

no wonder i can't get an apprentice. from the above posts, it seems like you need to pay them these days. what is the world coming to?

My first company i started my apprenticeship with had the attitude of : if your slacking at college and the workplace ...your gone.. so the money i was on i was earning and actually making a difference being on a job. Iv seen apprentices now that just stand around on their phone...but moan about their pay. Earn it!

My first company was nearly the same as yours. Where you would get sacked for slacking at college and workplace, I would of been sacked for slacking at either. Also had to keep my EITB log book up to date in my own time.
