am seriously considering going back to being self employed, as i've been working for the local housing authority for the past 18 months.
so i have a couple of questions , mainly for the small company , one man band guys among you!;)

1. are you still busy enough due to the "res*****n" ??
2. how much are you lot charging?, have you had to drop your costs at all to keep work coming in?? promise not to tell the tax man;);)

i used to charge £20-£25 ph depending on job, is this still about right??
cheers all

sorry thats three questions!!:D

Hi Markspark
If you are charging £20-£25 phr you should not have much of a problem depending on how you advertise etc money is about the same as always has been we are still battling with the unqualified cowboys so no change there then ! takes a little bit of time to get your name about but onece you have things become easier as long as your works good and prices fair etc etc but theres no substitution for regular wages (sound like someones mum now !) but i would put your name about and start off with small jobs if you can then when you have enough money saved to pay all bills for 6mths then you will cover yourself and its better working self employed with a back up plan like that.
Regards
Tony.

one of the reasons why i stopped being self employed was down to the amount of paper work i had to do!!:(
but i now do twice as much working for the local authority..
may as well work for my self,,
i have a couple of months worth of savings but was concerned about the amount of work about!
