Evening all.
Just been asked to do some PAT for a music festival in June. So, my question is (as only ever done shop things etc), what would band equipment fall under with regards to code of practice for in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment table 7.1? I’m inclined to be looking at ‘3’ - equipment used by the public. If anyone has any guidance on this, I’d been very grateful. TIA.

Personally I think table 7.1 goes out of the window with music gear. It ought to be industrial, it's used by instructed or skilled people to make a product (music!) but it leads such a hard life on the road and is so often tinkered with by the non-technical, that public-use portable is more representative. There is a very wide spread of levels of care or abandon with which it is treated and you may well find unauthorised modifications such as internally disconnected earths (to cure audio hum loops), wrong internal fuses, incomplete casings, 110V stuff incorrectly modified to work on 230V etc.
