Batteries for MFT?

The AA rechargeable cells in my Metrel MFT have given up the ghost, anyone have any recommendations for good quality replacements?

Rechargeable batteries are only 1.25V whereas normal disposable batteries are 1.5V so you're often better not using rechargeables in critical equipment which might be voltage sensitive.

Metrel's are designed to run on rechargeable though and has the recharge functionality built in to the box

Thanks for the info, I had no idea Metrel made testers to run with rechargeables.

If the MFT is still within warranty, I'd ask Metrel what one's they would recommend.

We use ansmann at work but just seen these on fleabay, look quite an interesting company, they only import and sell one type of battery. Tempted to give them a try even if they end up in the kids toys! Recharged the current ones in an independent charger and they lasted 20 minutes at the weekend :-(

maplin rechargeables are OK and a fair price. for non-rechargeable, i go to cpc farnell.

Duracell industrial (formerly procell) are in fact identical to their coppertops, it's just a different wrapper to distinguish the 'trade' cells from the 'consumer' ones

Buy decent branded rechargeable ones and they should last about 18 months - well mine do!

I use energizer rechargeables. They come in different mAh ratings, go for the highest. On my Megger I have to tell it I'm using 1.2v instead of 1.5v. Think I paid around £25 for the charger and 8 batteries.

lithium are the dogs danglies. average last 8 times as long as alkialine.
