Hello Guys,

I was just browsing through a few threads on here, and came accross a previous thread on "ordering the best stuff". It seems logical to me to use a single amplifier (as close to the aerial as possible) and then f type splitters, and installing with high grade wf or pf cable, but i wondered, if you had any good recommendations on a decent 1 way amplifier. Also what suppliers do you guys use?

Kind Regards

Tom

I tend to use the triax/wolsey variable gain amps. When using a set back amp I also tend to keep it a bit further away from the 1m min that you place a masthead amp as I don't know how well screened they are - the reason for keeping amps away from the aerial is to stop any rf radiation from the amp being picked up by the aerial and being fed back into the system.
I use Eurosat as my suppliers for all aerial and satellite equipment. They are a trade only supplier, very helpful (the Exeter branch) and good prices with free delivery once a week on their van for orders over £75.
In post switchover areas the grade of the cable can be less important as received signal levels are usually far higher than needed. Even though a couple of years ago I never thought I would use it, RG6 (@£18.95 per 250m) mostly does the job. Cable screening is more important than cable attenuation. A purist might disagree but at 2.5 x the price, ct100 is reserved for runs over 15m and areas where signal levels are problematic
