Just seen that in Cardiff the building control have for once actually prosecuted a builder for dodgy trading practices, the cowboy was hired by friends to do a loft conversion and made a right mess of it by all accounts.
It poses the question if they can prosecute him, then why cant they deal with the cowboy pretend electricians doing notifiable jobs and running off with the cash or using fake niceic stickers/stationary to con the public...

I see in the article his van had FMB (federation of master builders)scheme logos on, so can only assume builders now have scams they join too and pay an annual and assessment fee for?
