Buying ex-rental

Would any of you entertain buying an Ex-Hertz rental van?? it's a Caddy 2.0tdi and done about 27kish. 10 plate.

Seen one and the only thing that bugs me is that its ex-rental.

Rental companies are often very good at keeping their vehicles serviced at the required intervals and most of not all will be genuine replacement parts as they like to keep their vehicles within the warranty, saves a lot of money.

Only problem is that many people who use rentals, me included, tend to smash the arse out of them which does lead to premature mechanical wear.

If the price is right and it looks good then why not. My old Astra estate was an ex rental and happily did over 100,000 with only one major issue which is the inherent design flaw of the Isuzu engine.

Factor in a clutch change, brake pad/shoes/discs change (drums prob ok) with what you offer. The engine's probably been reasonably well looked after as it's an ex rental.

A few years ago I bought 20 ex rental Mondeos all 1 year old and they were great!!!!!!

Not one of them cameback with problems.

And oh my they were cheap....made a small fortune!!!!!!!

Usual stuff....missing smoke lighters, trim damaged, scuffs and scrapes

To be honest most vans are driven as if they are stolen. I would'nt worry too much that it's ex rental, it's pretty hard to brutalize a diesel engine anyway. if it's clean I would buy it if the price is right.

I'm in the market for a used van, been looking atautotrader etc. I suspect most of those there, I've been looking at are exrental, especially those with relatively low mileage. Most rental companiesseem to sell on their vans on when they reach certain age/mileage to reduce thewear & tear and maximize resale value. I think you'll find it rare to get anewish single owner vehicle. Do some research, and see what to look out formechanically when you buy, then I wouldn't worry too much.
