Hi guys, Ive recently passed a 9 month intensive Doemstric Installer Course including the main ones 17th Edition and C&G 2391. I would like to take other courses to gain some knowledge of industrial and commercial stuff. I have consulyted a local college to see if I can go directly into Level 3 2330 instead of level 2. Wondering if this is a good idea as I have over a years practical domestic installation experience and experience of Inspection and Testing.

Many Thanks

Matt

2330 Level 3 is a continuation of level 2 and relies heavily on prior knowlege of things like ac theory, cable calcs, inductive and capacitive reactance etc; it isn't a short 'comercial and industrial installer' course.
Having worked in the trade for a while certain elements will be familiar to you, but I wouldn't imagine there is much science involved in a domestic installer course. The practical aspect of comercial and industrial (trunking, tray, conduit etc) is covered in the second year of 2330 level 2.

Even if your college let you do it, I wouldn't recommend going straight from housebashing to lvl3 - A lot of people who have done level 2 fail or drop out when it comes to level 3.

Thanks for the info mate :). I though this is prob what you would say. I may aswell just start the Level 2 then now while im still young enough, (only 21).

Cheers
