Discuss Cable and pipe locator in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

A picture hook nail for walls and hardpoint saw for floors, never fails.

I bought one a few years back. It didn't work so I decided to continue to rely on common sense, touch wood it's never let me down yet.

There's been a few threads on this subject if you use the search function. I use a Stanley one I bought about 6-7 years ago and it's pretty good for what I need. I also have a tone set which can locate cables, can't remember the make though.

I have to say I hold these thing in the same bracket as Antivirus programs on your computer, they work okay but there's never a substitute for common sense.

I've got one, it works well and was excellent value second-hand from fleabay (£20). Just make sure you get the professional blue model (DMF 10 zoom) not the similar looking but poor performing DIY green model (?).
The Bosch GMS120 Wallscanner is the daddy and the gadget nerds nirvana. I played with one at ELEX and it's the dogs bits, like hand held penetrating radar, but the cost is hard to justify.

Had a look at this on the net. Sounds good but it is a little pricy so will have to start saving my pennies.
