Hi All,

I'm Wondering if anyone would take the time to explain how to calculate cables sizes & Which breakers to use? I know you have to look through Regs. But if people could explain how and which pages in the regs? I would be very Grateful!

Look Forward to your responses :)

Luke

1. determine design current Ib.
2. select device rating >= Ib
3. apply appropriate cable factors
4. calculate tabulated conductor current It
5. select cable size that meets It
6. cross check against volt drop anticipated for the circuit.

i've a feeling you might want it broken down into more basic terms ?
we'll need alot more input from yourself if you do.
:-)

The blue book is a good one to have, electricians design guide. Used it for the 2396 course. Or even the design book by Brian scadden.

Appendix four section 5 (page 308) in the BGB describe the procedures for selecting the appropriate size of breaker and cable for a proposed circuit.
