cable capping

when i bury a twin & earth in the wall i just channel a slot with an angle grinder and chisel and clip it in the channel ,some people use oval conduit but youv,e got to make one hell of a channel .i used oval once but the plasterer moaned his head off saying that he had to unibond the conduit a lot of times because the plaster was,nt bonding to it ,so what is exactly capping?

if you mean what is capping? its plastic or ali top hat shaped covering

conduit = fully enclosed tube that cables run in

capping = clipped on top of cable and looks like a top hat on profile view...!

Capping is one of those things that is down to personal choice really if you are filling the channel yourself no need to use it, if you trust the plasterer not to damage cable no need to use it, some builders will insist you use it others dont care. Best stuff to use is as per the link on the above post. As for angle grinder personally I would not use one of those in a domestic situation, channel in 10 minutes hours and hours clearing the dust up afterwards

Also with capping you'll need to chase much wider.
