I need a cable for 10kW/44Amps Shower. 10M run

TLC Catalogue for T&E 6242Y recommends 10mm upto 53 Amps. Doncaster Cables online calc reckons 4mm.
Draka online calc agrees with TLC. Common sense also says 10mm.
What have I got wrong for Doncaster to suggest 4mm?

Just tried their calcs Doncaster Cables online that is, I gave me 4mm as well, all I can say is don't trust online calculators

Do away with the online calcs and do them manually mate.

Any good links for manual calcs. I needs to take into account running parrall to other 10mm & 16mm cables. Or can anyone recommend a trusted online calc. Draka looks comprehensive.

Why not buy a cable calc programme there's plenty of software out there but even then you still need to do a manual check with the regs book now and then to check the cable selections

Even with method C you'd need 6mm at least so don't know how they've come up with 4mm.

Oh and I find the megger cable calc app quite useful for the iPhone

Sparky app for iPad is ok but nothing beats doing the calc yourself due to levels of overkill written into software or apps. Tend to install 10mm for future proofing as a general rule.

No offence intended, but the first thing any electrician will tell you when asking about a 10kw shower is that you need at least 10mm. Are you actually an electrician mate, as this is a notifiable job?

best to check regs book and buy a copy of osg to be safe.

why not do the calc manually its not that bad

The BGB or OSG is where I'd be looking AND you are correct no to trust the Doncaster "tool" as 4mm is not big enough by a long way!

I remember looking at that Doncaster tool a while ago and it seemed to be blatantly wrong. I was sad cos I really like Doncaster cable, I find it the easiest to work with, although it can be overly powdery inside. Not that that has anything to do with their kak cable calculator of course. Just saying.
