Cable type for 24vdc circuit

Hi All

I have been asked to install a small BMS system in my local community centre for whom I do all their normal electrical work.

All the radiators are being fitted with 24 vdc actuators, each drawing 30mA when operating. There will be a maximum of 2 actuators on each cable run.

The BMS manufacturer has recommended using Firetec Standard multi core LSZH 1.5mm claiming that's what "the regulations" state.

Seems total overkill to me (notwithstanding difficult to work with) but I am not familiar with the cable regulations for this type of circuit.

Any advice or pointers gratefully received.

Most BMS installations use this type of cable, it's screened and rated to 240v so it can be run in the same containment as power within reason. Without sounding like an arse I've never struggled to terminate it. Get a sharp knife and your away.

Not true, I do a lot of work around Trend systems and all their low power stuff uses 2 twisted pair belden type at 22awg

Thanks for the reply, but what I'm looking for is the applicable regulations so I can fully understand any requirement

there's nowt in BS7671, except that cable should be suitable for it's use and it's environment. belden cable would be my choice unless you had very long runs and volt drop was a problem.
