Can i cut these cables?

Hi,

Very noddy question as i know naff all about electrics! i've moved into a house that has cables under the floor coming out of each corner which I assume were for surround sound speakers - and hey it's all about the soundbar these days, right? ;-)

Just wanted to know whether i could cut these down so they protrude a little less without risking anything untoward happening?

That definitely looks like speaker cable and terminals to me. Unless someone has done something very naughty. Bearing in mind the exposed terminals have probably touched together already, this would pretty much confirm the lack of hazard.

If you have access to a test meter you could check for certain.

The old adage goes; You can cut any cable once, more than once if you're lucky

Find the other end (where the hifi was) and rig them up with a “retro” music system and speakers.

It’s all the rage, apparently.
